» anthony320 - My son just diagnose with Legg Pertheses

I have a 13 year old son that was diagnosed with this disease. He was a very active kid and is on the small thin side. We first thought it was a sports injury. He was playing tackle football and was tackled to the ground and three guys piled on top of him causing immediate pain and a limp.We thought it was just a pull or something and let it go. Well all through baseball season he was not himself, he lost his quickness and speed. After seeing three doctors and seven months he was diagnosed with this Disease. We had a specialist at the Schnieder children Hospital examine him. He has a minor limp and the xrays show partial damage to the bone ball. The doctor told us we had to wait for four months to get an idea of what phase this thing is in.
We are mentally and physically crushed by this news and was wondering if anyone had any input. I have read many of the posts here but not many mention a 13 year old boy with this disease and what likely will be his faith. The kid is heartbroken he can not play sports for at least a year, he was a tremendous baseball player.
I asked about vitamins, but the doctor said nothing will help this, you have to wait it out.
My heart is broken just knowing my son has something eating him and I cant do a thing about it.
Upset in New York
Anthony
